Nov 14, 2009 – WYE ISLAND Rain and Alternative

It seems Mother Nature may not want us to go to the Field Trials …  I understand that the Trials will continue regardless of the weather, but you all may not want to endure the rain and mud ….  so if you were interested in the Trials call Jacquie 410-923-6157 for updates and do plan for a definite alternative —-

Sun. Nov. 15 … RTR 10:00am in the Patuxent Wildlife Reserve in Laurel …. Hard packed touring roads that we cannot tear up .. parking at the Ranger Station off Rt 198….

Directions from Rt 32 near NSA and Baltimore-Washington Pkwy … take Rt 198 for Laurel … around the traffic circle(s) following signs for 198 and Laurel … past the water treatment plant on right … over the creek bridge…  turn left on the far side of the ball field on the right … follow the drive all the way to the end and park at the Ranger Station .. before unloading go in the Ranger Station to sign a waiver and get your pass (no charge) …  rsvp 410-923-6157

We’re going to watch the FIELD TRIALS on WYE ISLAND from horseback…ride along at a safe distance out of the way of the dogs and their mounted handlers…Wye Island NRMA is a state-owned series of open fields that attract multitudes of migrating shore birds…footing is soft and flat..Go to http://www.akc.org/pdfs/rulebooks/RFTPNT.pdf for more about trials and especially etiquette.

from Easton (West Bound rt 50)  —  travel westbound rt 50 to the Maryland route 213 traffic light .. continue on rt 50 for 3 miles … look for sign for Wye Island NRMA and turn left onto Carmichael Rd … go 5.1 miles crossing Wye Island Bridge and continue about 4.2 miles on Wye Island Road …  the usual equestrian parking lot is a left turn where the hard top road turns to dirt and gravel
