TUCKAHOE EQUESTRIAN CENTER

November 4-6, 2011

 

FRIDAY: 6:00 Dinner of a hearty soup served in clubhouse.

 

SATURDAY:

8:00 Breakfast in the clubhouse.

 

10:00 Trail ride in the adjoining Tuckahoe State Park. A 12 mile loop which follows the general course of the beautiful Tuckahoe River will be flagged. The terrain is flat with some hills; horseshoes are generally not required. Each rider can proceed at his/her own pace following the flagged trail. A shorter loop will also be flagged, or you can sign up for a guided/mentored ride.

 

2:00 “Find Your Own Pleasure Gait” clinic in arena with Jacquie Cowan, of the Chesapeake Plantation Walking Horse club ($5.00)

4:30 Dinner at the clubhouse.

 

6:00: HARVEST AUCTION of many new and gently used items. Donations welcomed!

SUNDAY: 8:00 Breakfast in the clubhouse.

 

9:00 Registration for Killer Trail Competition on TEC grounds (additional fee applies), or ride the trails in the park. Maps will also be available of other loops to ride to the town of Ridgely and back (some road riding involved).

Accommodations: There are 10 electrical hookups (for additional $3.00/day charge). These are available on a first-come, first-served basis, payable the weekend of the event. There is plenty of space for portable corrals. Five stalls and 7 outside corrals are also available on a first-come, first-served basis ($10.00/weekend).

Cost: $45.00 for the weekend includes camping fees, 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners ($40.00 for members of Tuckahoe Equestrian Center)

$15.00 for children 10 and under; no charge for children under 5.

Reservations must be received by October 27, 2011.

I, the undersigned, on my own behalf and on behalf of my minor child/children, acknowledge that:

 

I am aware that horseback riding or driving a horse drawn vehicle is a dangerous activity. I acknowledge that horses are animals, and as such are unpredictable and easily startled. I acknowledge that I am aware that serious injury and/or death may occur in an accident sustained in riding and/or driving horses.

 

I, the undersigned, on my own behalf and on behalf of my minor child/children, agree to defend and hold harmless the TUCKAHOE EQUESTRIAN CENTER FOUNDATION, INC., and Tuckahoe State Park, owner of the grounds, from any claim, loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused to any person or thing by the act or acts of a horse while engaged in the pony/carriage ride activity. I shall hold harmless the aforementioned parties from the loss of or injury to myself or my child, or other personal property, whether the loss, damage, or injury is caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the sponsor, sponsor’s agent, or owner of the grounds.

 

I hereby assume sole responsibility for and agree to defend and hold harmless the aforementioned parties from any and all loss and expense, including legal fees, for injury, including death, sustained by any person or persons, including myself and my child/children arising out of and as a consequence of participation in the pony/carriage ride activity above-mentioned.

Directions:

 

FROM THE NORTH: Take US Route 301 south. Turn left onto Route 304 at blinker light. Go 4.1 miles and turn right on Route 481. Go 2.0 miles and take the first left into the park on Crouse Mill Road. After 1.0 mile turn right at the lake and follow to parking lot.

 

FROM THE WEST: Take US Route 50 across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (staying on RT. 50 when 50 and 301 split) follow Route 50 to Route 404. Turn left at the light and go to first light at Queen Anne, MD. Turn left onto route 309. Go 1.0 mile and turn right onto Horseshoe road. Go to stop sign and turn right and follow to the parking area.

 

FROM THE EAST: Take Route 404 west through Denton, MD and follow to the stop light at Queen Anne MD. Turn right on route 309 and go 1.0 mile. Turn right on Horseshoe road. Go to stop sign and turn right and follow to the parking area

  1. I noticed the Rosaryville ride in the newsletter which said, Oct 15 or 16.

    Are any members attending either day? It looks fun and even better if I could connect with other club members. Please RSVP here if you’re considering the Mount Airy Mansion Fall Festival idea.

  2. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research on this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such great info being shared freely out there.
